Overview
Course Description
Visual Representation BA – Illustration, comics specialisation
The Visual Representation BA provides a solid basis for navigating the traditional/analogue but also the digital visual world, exploiting the potential of new technologies, while developing students’ manual and computer skills and creativity through drawing and design practices.
In addition to traditional genres such as graphic design and painting, we will introduce students to today’s diverse methods of image creation: comics, film scripts, storyboards, focusing on the interface between design and visual arts. Our students not only create illustrations for a literary work, but are also capable of designing the whole book.
Our programme has a special emphasis on freehand drawing. In the Visual Representation program, our students also study artistic anatomy to improve their drawing skills. With the mentoring of teachers/professors, we focus on helping each student to find their individual visual language and creative, artistic style.
What can you study with us?
Illustration techniques, Illustration and comics history and methodology, Reproduction techniques, Multipled graphic techniques, Colour theory, Art anatomy, Visual Representation studies, Classical and digital imaging techniques, DTP software studies, Visual Representation and Typography, Contemporary illustration methods and strategies, Contemporary Visual Representation practice.
If you love to illustrate and visualise stories, are a skilled drawer, have a good sense of character and dramaturgy and would like to follow in the footsteps of famous comic artists and illustrators, we are the place for you.
